Firstly, can we ask you why you started this exciting new venture / what you wanted to achieve?
Laurent and I have operated restaurants and cafés for 30 years and during covid I had an idea I would love to buy a pod. My husband wasn’t keen because he prefers bricks and mortar!! We sold our cafe in our village two years ago and got bored quickly after that. Last year in November I just said, “’I’m buying an Ape 50”. After Christmas, my husband decided to come on board with me and that’s when we ordered the pod. We are looking for the right work balance and not being stuck in a kitchen. We are going to work from April to October and travel in the wintertime.
When are you hoping to launch your new Coffee Pod business?
We are launching on the 12th of May – it will be a soft launch for family and friends!!
Where will you be trading your fab new mobile Catering Pod?
We will be trading in caravan parks and near our beach front. We have asked a young man to do a video with his drone which will be good. Our son will take over our social media; he doesn’t think much of my skills
What the Big Coffee handcrafted for this project.
For this project we have fabricated a quirky and compact Pod style trailer, perfect for two people to work inside – warm and dry and protected from the conditions that our customers may be trading in, close to the beach. The Pod featured a two group Fracino machine capable of delivering 250 cappuccinos per hour and has the ability of running plugged in to mains electric or totally “off grid” via batteries and gas. The Catering Pod is also fitted with a display fridge for cold drinks and milk, as well as a Smoo milk-shake machine, perfect for hot summer days. The Pod is finished in a lovely Oliva green with a logo design that incorporates some inspiration taken whilst on holiday in Spain.
